Thank you, Violet, that's going to stick in my thoughts.

Perfect! Then my work here is done. 😉

"Surprised" and "Happy"; add those to my log, up to 3 emotions since finishing your article! Only 24 more to go.

Whenever you appear, Violet, I have only one emotion! Guess which one it is. I like that analogy of the refrigerator humming in the background

I can't think of 27 different emotions off hand. I'm thinking.

There are a lot of them - even if we don’t know how to name them all. 😁

Not wrong at all, Violet. And although I was never textbook‑savvy about emotions, I appreciate the way you break down the metaphor — that would’ve caught my attention immediately.

What your article highlights so well is that emotions surface in the moment for a reason. They reflect something, they serve their purpose, and then they should be acknowledged and gently set aside — not brooded over for hours, days, weeks, or, achingly, years.

I wouldn’t say emotions should be ignored; if anything, feeling them is how we learn to react, to love, and to truly understand ourselves. It’s the lingering, not the feeling, that does the damage.

I never bothered to count them, but I think I felt every negative emotion imaginable in the first 30 minutes of each shift at a job I quit several years ago. A lost opportunity!

PS: not always getting your stuff under subscriptions. Weird.

Indeed. Good post, on a complex matter. I think my fav feeling is pleasure at a first cup of java black in the morning while hearing little birds chirping outside the open window. That or stumbling across a good book or movie unexpectedly. Now some morning java. Cheers 🥂
